On Nationalism

[N]ation connotes a group of people who believe they are ancestrally related. Nationalism connotes identification with and loyalty to one’s nation as just defined. It does not refer to loyalty to one’s country.

If we renounce conquest and overbreeding, our survival in a competitive world depends on what kink of world it is: One World, or a world of national territories. If the world is one great commons, in which all food is shared equally, then we are lost. Those who breed faster will replace the rest. Sharing the food from national territories is operationally equivalent to sharing territory; in both cases a commons is established, and tragedy is the ultimate result.

In a less than perfect world, the allocation of rights based on territory must be defended if a ruinous breeding race is to be avoided. It is unlikely that civilization and dignity can survive everywhere; but better in a few places than none. Fortunate minorities must act as the trustees of a civilization that is threatened by uninformed good intentions.

The northeast Asiatics, of predominantly Mongoloid racial ancestry, and a nations fairly homogeneous ethnically, are aware of the realities. They are quieting acting in their own interests, confident that their own homogeneously high intelligence will enable then to inherit the civilizational mantle in the twenty-first century...Their intellectuals and academicians give only lip service to the orthodox Western sociological dogmas. The leadership understands the dynamics of national survival and they are quietly acting on the basis of the facts that are in hand.

[E]recting walls that separate "us" from "them" is a necessary correlate of morality since it defines the scope within which sympathy, fairness, and duty operate...

The great achievement of Western culture since the Enlightenment is to make many of us peer over the wall and grant some respect to people outside it; the great failure of Western Culture is to deny that walls are inevitable or important.
