Pomme: 1986 - October 16, 2003 10:30 AM
RIP

Pomme was a throwaway. We found her under our house in July of 1987. She was malnourished and obviously mistreated. The vet said she was at least six months old, but not yet an adult. She came into the home with an existing dog and in August got a kitten to help raise which aided in her adjustment. At about age six, she developed odd seizures (every few minutes) and spent two weeks at the University of Georgia Veternary Hospital in Athens GA. Jill's initial diagnosis, normal pressure hydrocephalus, was proven correct after an MRI and prednisone was the treatment. Occasional doses every month or so prevented recurrence. After this, I started taking her to the office with me every day so I could watch her, and this grew into a tradition. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed riding in the car.

Alba Canmore, a West Highland Terrier, was the replacement puppy. Here he is a week or so after his six month birthday (Born May 2, 2003) and his graduation from obedience traning.

Here is Albie at eleven months old doing what he does best-getting dirty. The word terrier means "earth dog," not terrorrist as some terrier owners would have you believe. They hunt small (and not so small) animals in burrows and tunnels.

Here is our new additional dog, Lady. She was a rescued dog which we adopted a few months ago. She is a little over a year old and has finished her dog training 101. She is very sweet, but destroys everything. Also she will jump the 4' cyclone fence in our back yard and come back to the front yard about an hour later.

Louis at the annual Rotary Christmas Party for the old (!) folks at St. John's Towers in Augusta. He has helped give out Christmas presents there for nineteen of the last twenty years. This picture appeared in the Augusta Chronicle on Friday, December 6th, 2007. He was completely unaware that his picture has been taken before seeing it in the newspaper.
